This is a very nice and scarce example of a prewar "Krieghoff" Luger. This pistol was manufactured in 1936 with an estimated total production during this year of approximately 9000 pistols. Krieghoff was the primarily supplier to the Luftwaffe during WWII and they are prized for their fine fit and finish. This top of the pistol chamber is marked "1936" indicating the year of manufacture and the top of the rear toggle has the later pattern "H (anchor) K/KREIGHOFF/SUHL". The left side of the barrel extension is marked with the serial number and the right side has the three "eagle/ 2" Waffenamt proofs of the Krieghoff factory and the right side of the barrel also has the same "eagle/2" proof. The underside of the barrel has the bore diameter and the correct serial number but of a much smaller size and style numbers. The pistol is finished in a high polish blue with straw colored small parts. It is fitted with the correct WWII Krieghoff brown checkered plastic grips and one WWII Mauser magazine with nickel body and the aluminum extruded base that is numbered "5757" with a small "eagle/63" Waffenamt stamp.
Near mint as professionally restored with 98% of the finish remaining. Except for a tiny ding on the trigger guard. Almost all of the straw colors remain on the small parts. All of the markings and edges are still clear and sharp with most of the markings highlighted in white. The grips are excellent with only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent. This is an attractive example of a very professionally restored high quality Krieghoff Luger.
