Established in 1932, the RLB was responsible for German air defense. While the membership was technically massive, most of its members were part-time volunteers, with only a small cadre of full-time officers qualifying to wear the officers dagger, and authorization for the enlisted dagger being a reward for special action and service. 13 3/4 inches long, with an 8 5/8 inch blade, 3 1/4 inch crossguard, smooth hardwood grip with swastika-on-sunburst badge, nickel plated alloy fittings and a black enamel finished sheath with short belt hanger. Very fine overall, with some light rubbing and spotting on the otherwise excellent blade, flaking of the nickel and enamel, and a few dings and scuffs on the grip.
