Description:

Likely manufactured during the turbulent and violent period of the Chinese Civil War, this pistol is a very close copy of a Fabrique Nationale High-Power in appearance and function, including a functioning thumb safety. The left side of the slide has markings very close to its Belgian counterparts, including Belgian style proofs, which are repeated on the left of the frame. The right of the slide and frame are marked with the serial number "1935". The barrel has more Belgian/Liege style proofs and is marked "GAL 9M/M P". It is fitted with a blade front sight, tangent rear sight graduated to 500 meters, back strap slotted for shoulder stock, and a pair of checkered hardwood grips. This specific pistol is pictured and discussed on p. 518-519 of the book "Pistols of the Warlords: 1911-1949" by Ian McCollum. Includes a plain modern box.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 50% of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to a mixture of bright grey and plum-brown patina, mostly on the edges and grip straps, and a few scattered patches of light surface pitting. The grips are fine with moderate wear, scattered minor handling marks, and mostly well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
