Manufactured in 1940 and delivered to Springfield Armory on 30 January of 1941. The left side of the slide is marked with the two-line/two-block address separated by the Rampant Colt, "CSR" inspected frame with "W/VP" proof, matching "P" proofs on the frame and slide, and standard U.S. property and Army nomenclature on the right of the frame. Fitted with blade and notch sights, checkered slide catch, checkered thumb safety, and wide spur hammer, long grip safety, and arched checkered mainspring housing with lanyard loop. The full blue barrel is marked "COLT 45 AUTO" on the lower left and "G" in front of the lug. Fitted with a two-tone magazine and checkered walnut grips. Includes a U.S. Enger-Kress leather shoulder holster, similar to those issued to many pilots during World War II. Provenance: The Paul Crockett Jr. Collection

Very fine, retains 85% plus of the original blue finish with a couple lightly cleaned/cold blue touched up patches on the lower left edge of the slide and on the left of the frame just above the trigger, and some slight thinning to a grey patina on some edges and the mainspring housing. The grips are also very fine with a few scattered light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very fine with some light wear.
