Excellent World War I U.S. Colt Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Factory Letter

Manufactured on 17 October 1918, the included factory letter confirms the current configuration (grips not listed) as well as shipment to the Greenville Piers in Jersey City, New Jersey on 23 October 1918 for subsequent shipment to the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe, shortly before the end of World War I. The left side of the slide is marked with the standard two-line, two-block patent dates and address on either side of the Rampant Colt, while the right side has the standard model and U.S. army marking. The left of the frame has the standard U.S. property marking and an "eagle head/Si6" proof, with "67" on the trigger guard. The blued barrel is marked with a conjoined "HP" on the chamber hood, "Z" on the right of the lug, and "0" in front of the lug. The two tone magazine is marked "A". It is fitted with diamond pattern checkered walnut grips.

ConditionExcellent, retains 97% plus of the original "Black Army" blue finish with some very light edge wear and some light slide retraction marks. The grips are also excellent with a few scattered minor blemishes in the otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
