Dated "1912" on the extension, with fixed sights, "crown/ERFURT" on the front toggle link, and Imperial German proofs overall. As is appropriate for the era, the pistol is not fitted with a stock lug or a hold-open device (and has not been modified for the latter, a commonly seen arsenal modification, scarce). A "crown/RC" proof is present on the front of the trigger guard, with a unit mark "B.1.T.L.2.4." on the front strap, with straw finished small parts, checkered grips, and a nickel finished magazine with hardwood base. Minus the magazine, numbers are matching overall, including on the grip panels. Provenance: The Paul Crockett Jr. Collection
Excellent, with 90% of the original blue finish showing some bright edge wear, mild spotting and light handling marks. Some dents are present on the left side of the frame. 75% of the straw colors are present, especially strong and bright on the trigger and ejector, the remainder fading to gray with mild spotting. The grips are also excellent, with some stains, dings, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
