Manufactured in 1940 with standard markings including Winchester factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The desirable 20 inch barrel is fitted with hooded, ramped, beaded blade front and elevation adjustable notch rear sights, sling swivels on the forearm cap and stock, and the left side of the receiver is factory drilled and tapped for a peep sight with filler screws in place. Mounted with a checkered semi-beavertail forearm and pistol grip stock with a checkered steel shotgun buttplate.
Excellent, retains 90% plus of the bright original high polish blue finish with the balance having thinned slightly to a smooth grey patina, primarily near the muzzle, on the lever, and edges of the buttplate, and a few scattered light dings. The wood is very fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
