Produced concurrently with Mauser's "eagle/L" Police Lugers, only 625 Mauser Banner Luger pistols were made for commercial sale in 1941 with the remainder of the factory production capacity tied up on Wehrmacht/government contracts. Blade and notch sights, with "41" on top of the chamber, the Mauser Banner on the front toggle link and "eagle/N" commercial proofs on the receiver and breechblock. The barrel is unnumbered, with an "eagle/355" military proof on the upper left side, the magazine is numbered "899" and "2" (indicating a spare magazine from a Police Luger rig), the right grip panel "22", the left "Z", otherwise the numbers are matching. Finish is full blue, with checkered grips and a blue finished magazine with alloy base.
Very fine, with 75% plus of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown and gray patina on the front strap, trigger guard, side plate and frame, bright edge wear, light handling marks and a small amount of spotting. The grips are very good, with a few dings on the sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
