Description:

Manufactured in 1943 and professionally modified into a cutaway pistol. The slide is marked "ITHACA GUN CO. INC. ITHACA N.Y." on the left and "P" proof in front of the rear sight. The left side of the frame is marked "FJA" for U.S. inspector Frank J. Atwood and a "P" proof next to the magazine catch release button. The right side of the frame and slide are where all the cutaway openings were made and consequently portions of the actual factory markings have been removed. There are three cuts on the slide. The frame has five openings. The serial number and first part of the "UNITED STATES PROP" is still intact as are the last two letters of the U.S. Army markings. It has a mix of mid-war production components like the serrated slide stop and thumb safety, long grip safety, narrow hammer and checkered, and arched mainspring housing with the stamped steel trigger. The one grip is the correct wartime version manufactured by the "Keyes-Fibre" company that has a single five pointed star with a "K" inside, and a single mold number; the other grip has been cut away in this area. With one blued WWII magazine that has the single letter "L" on the front of the lip.

Rating Definition:

Very good as professionally refinished and cutaway. The various openings have all been highlighted in red paint as you would expect. The grips are also in excellent condition. Mechanically excellent.
