Blued steel barrels with a single white bead sight on the raised concave solid rib, "MADE TO ORDER A. H. FOX" and CHROMOX FLUID STEEL" marked on the right and left barrels respectively, 2 1/2 inch wedges of floral scroll engraving at either breech, a single gold band across the rear of the rib, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The coin finished scalloped boxlock action displays absolutely beautiful decoration consisting of highly attractive deep cut floral scrollwork over a darkened background, gold inlaid "ANSLEY H. FOX" banners on either side, and a relief cut running fox on the underside. The engraving extends to the trigger guard, watertable, top lever, and the tangs, with the bottom showing the serial number inlaid in gold. The gun features gold plated double triggers and a tang mounted automatic safety switch with gold inlaid "SAFE". The trigger plate is signed "PAUL.LANTUCH.Engr." to the right of the trigger. Stunningly figured, fancy checkered Schnabel splinter forend with engraved fittings and ebony tip inlay as well as well as the straight grip stock with checkered flats and engraved coin finished skeleton buttplate around the checkered bare butt. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .618/.617 inches; choke constriction .009/.022 inches; minimum wall thickness .034/.037 inches; 1 3/16 inch drop at comb; 1 9/16 inch drop at heel; 14 13/16 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 6 lbs. 12 oz.
Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with limited handling evidence, a few tiny areas of minor freckling, some very minor oil discoloration on either side of the action, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.
