Description:

This wonderful bronze tells the story of the origins of "Old Man Winter". The original legend is that of a Native American war chief who annually stormed his way down from the north bringing the cold whipping winds and snow with each step as he chased the Thunderbird south. This bronze depicts that war chief on his ride adorned in full war dress with a bison head dress. Clenched in Old Man Winter's hands is a bison skull from which frost and snow are coming to cover the land. His mighty horse is shown in full stride as each step throws snow into the air off the ground. Several aspects of the bronzes decoration have been painted in vibrant reds and blues. The artist's signature is on the ground to the right of the horse and rider. The statue measures 36x23 1/2x38 inches. Includes a wooden display table with a brass plaque on the front with the story of Old Man Winter that measures 27x46x39 inches, a letter from Mountain Trails Galleries giving the measurements for the sculpture, and a Certificate of authenticity.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with a few storage and handling marks and an attractive patina. Table is very fine with some storage and handling marks.
