Description:

All five patches are of a pattern used by a U.S. Army Air Corps/Army Air Force bombardment unit during World War II. 1) 427th Squadron (303rd Bomb Group) patch, embroidered on gray felt, with a design of Bugs Bunny with his foot resting on a lit bomb. 2) 323rd Squadron (91st Bomb Group) patch, embroidered on gray felt, with an unhappy goat riding a falling bomb through clouds. 3) 305 Bomb Group, embroidered on blue felt, with a "CAN DO" banner over a bomb in a mailed fist, with a broken swastika below. 4) 401st Squadron (91st Bomb Group) patch, embroidered with leather backing on blue felt, with a wildman with a spiked club and a stereotypical Indian with tomahawk riding a falling bomb. 5) 401st Squadron (91st Bomb Group) patch, painted leather, similar to #4 with color variation and minor design differences. Provenance: The Putnam Green/Sycamore Collection

Rating Definition:

Patch #5 shows some cracking and edge wear, and patch #2 shows some holes concentrated at the edges; otherwise, the patches are very good overall.
