This rare target pistol has the two-line address and patent marking ending in "1866" and the "P S" marking inspection marking on the left suggesting the pistol was built on an antique Model 1871 action. The barrel has a Lyman blade front sight, "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION, N.Y. U.S.A." on top, and "22 S" on the bottom. A folding leaf rear sight is fitted to the top of the frame at the breech. The forearm is smooth, and the replacement grip has a rendition of "Seated Liberty" in raised relief on the right side between thirteen stars similar to the design used on U.S. coins from 1836 through 1891.

Very fine with 85% plus blue finish, some minor surface oxidation, a few patches of mild pitting, bent sights, and otherwise generally only minor age and storage related wear. The grip and forearm are both fine with distinct raised relief carving, attractive natural tones and grain, and minor wear. Mechanically excellent. This is definitely a very attractive Remington rolling block pistol complete with exceptional "Americana" grips.
