Description:

Almost certainly manufactured during the violence and upheaval of the Chinese Civil War, this pistol, unlike many manufactured in China at the time, does not appear to be a copy of a European design but rather an original homegrown design. This example bears multiple markings throughout, which are generally comprised of random, crudely stamped English/Latin letters. The pistol is a blowback design and chambered in 7.63 mm Mauser Auto, fitted with a blade front sight, Broomhandle style grasping area on the rear of the slide, exposed serrated hammer, and no apparent safety mechanism. It is also fitted with a pair of hard rubber grips with hand files serrations. This specific pistol is pictured and discussed on p. 130-131 of the book "Pistols of the Warlords: 1911-1949" by Ian McCollum.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 30% of the thinned original blue finish with the balance mostly a smooth grey patina and some scattered very light surface pitting. The grips are also fine with some scattered minor handling marks and mild flaking of the black finish. The tangent rear sight and extractor are absent. Mechanically fine.
