Exceptionally Rare 50-Count Box of E. Remington & Sons .44 Remington Cartridges

This exceptionally rare and very fine box of .44 Remington CF cartridges by E. Remington & Son contains all 50 rounds and features a picture label with an illustration of a cartridge. Knowledgeable collectors believe only 6 of these boxes exist. These boxes are therefore missing from even the most advanced private or public collections and are a must have for the serious Remington collector. The .44 Remington cartridge was for the early Remington Model 1875 revolvers. The approximately first 16,000 Model 1875s manufactured by Remington were chambered in .44 Remington. After 1878, most of the Model 1875s were chambered for .44 Winchester Centerfire or .45 Colt. In all around 25,000 Model 1875 were manufactured between 1875 and 1889. They were among the first and most widely used centerfire revolvers in the West and are particularly known for their use by the Indian Police. They were also known as the Improved Army or Frontier Army. The Model 1875 was Remington's answer to the Colt Single Action Army and is a solid firearm with fewer main components than Colt's revolver, but it simply suffered in the famous "Peacemaker's" shadow Provenance: Fritz Baehr and Herb Glass; The Greg Lampe Collection

ConditionA very fine box of extremely rare 50-count E. Remington & Sons .44 Remington cartridges that displays very well. Most of the picture label remains and the graphics are crisp.
