Manufactured relatively early during the pre-World War II period of German re-armament, this Mauser K98k bears the "S/42" Mauser manufacturer code over "1936" date on the receiver ring, "MOD.98" on the left receiver rail, and a set of "eagle/63" and "droop eagle" inspection marks on the right of the receiver ring. The barrel is fitted with the standard blade and tangent sights, and matching numbers are present on multiple components, including the bolt and stock. Fitted with a smooth pistol grip stock with a flat steel buttplate and a brown leather sling. Includes a steel muzzle cover.
