Description:

Originally manufactured by Broadhead Armory as a semi-automatic copy of the M3A1 submachine gun, this example has been converted by Hard Times Armory for full automatic open bolt operation. These Hard Times Armory converted M3C submachine guns are considered scarce today. One of the signature weapons of World War II and Korea, the M3 and M3A1 were designed to make heavy use of metal stampings to speed production, and would be part of the American inventory as late as Operation Desert Storm. The Broadhead design uses a drawn and welded tube for the receiver, with a stamped magazine well and a cast alloy trigger housing. Blade and peep sights, with the Broadhead address on the left side of the magazine well and the Hard Times address on the right. As with the M1A1, cocking is performed by reaching into the ejector port and pulling the bolt back, with the hinged dust cover doubling as a safety and a full auto only trigger group. With a two-position telescoping wire buttstock. Included with the lot are four extra magazines and a loading tool.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as upgraded to full auto, with 80% of the matte gray phosphate finish, showing mild spotting, areas of brown patina, and light handling marks. A safety lever was deleted as part of the conversion process. Mechanically very good. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
