Description:

The final wartime revision of the Thompson Submachine Gun, the M1A1 was on paper made obsolete by the M3/M3A1, but would continue to serve as late as the Vietnam War. This particular example has been effectively retrofitted back to the M1 standard, with an articulated firing pin equipped M1 bolt instead of the M1A1's fixed firing pin bolt. Blade front and fixed peep rear sights, with a horizontal handguard, and an "S" marked machined receiver with multiple military inspector marks (FJA, GEG) and "S-45" near the serial number. The trigger housing has dual control switches, a fixed buttstock, and a grooved pistol grip. Included with the lot are four extra stick magazines, two 3-celled canvas magazine pouches, and a copy of the 1928A1 field manual.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 98% of the professionally restored parkerization, with mild scratches and handling marks overall, along with a few patches of covered pitting. The wood is also very fine, with mild scuffs and dings overall, as well as some minor chipping on the forearm. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
