Description:

Manufactured by Thunder Valley Machine Company, this is a factory quality reproduction of the Colt Model 1883, marked as being the fourth in a series of six made by TVM. A refinement of earlier Gatling designs, the 1883 is outfitted for the Accles drum, a powered loading mechanism that permitted a higher rate of fire than earlier gravity powered designs, serving as a link between earlier box/hopper fed repeaters and modern "chain gun" weapons. Constructed chiefly from brass, with steel side rails, barrels and internals, with a reproduction brass Colt plaque on top of the receiver, TVM markings on the right side rail, and a brass handled crank. The donut magazine has a brass outer jacket, with the inner workings constructed from micarta composite. The tripod is steel construction, with a brass yoke and integral elevation screw.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall. The steel components show 90% plus black enamel finish, with mild edge wear and handling marks overall, along with some minor spotting. The brass components are bright, with minor spotting. The tripod is good, with mild wear and oxidization, and an adjustment nut is absent from the elevation mechanism. Mechanically good.
