Manufactured as one of 103 by Remington to be an exact copy of the rifle used by legendary U.S.M.C. Scout Sniper Chuck Mawhinney in Vietnam. Mawhinney is most known for his recorded 103 confirmed kills during his 16 months in Vietnam with a total of 216 probables. The feats achieved by Mawhinney went widely unknown, even to his own family and friends, until Joseph T. Ward's book "Dear Mom: A Sniper's Vietnam" (a copy of the book is included) was released. The rifle features a sightless M40 profile barrel with Remington markings on the left side. The receiver is marked with the standard Model 700 markings on the left side with "U.S." above the serial number and "CBM8541" on the front receiver ring on the right. The floorplate is engraved with Chuck Mawhinney's signature and "045/103" below. The receiver is mounted with a green anodized Redfield 3-9x40 scope. Mounted in a reproduction M40 specification walnut pistol grip stock. Includes a commemorative data book with the first page filled out by Mawhinney with note to the shooter on the back of the page and a nylon sling.

Excellent overall, retaining 98% plus original parkerized finish with limited handling marks and a couple minor dings on the stock. Mechanically excellent. Scope is excellent with clear optics and a crisp reticle.
