Description:

The final wartime revision of the Thompson Submachine Gun, the M1A1 replaced the articulated firing pin in the bolt with a fixed pin on the bolt face, which by that point had become the de-facto standard for SMG bolt design. Fixed blade front and peep rear sights, with "U.S./PROPERTY" on top of the receiver and a set of "GEG" and "FJA" inspector marks on the left. Properly for the model, there is no provision to accept drum magazines, and the bolt is the proper heavyweight M1A1 fixed pin configuration. The trigger housing is numbered to match on the guard, with a checkered magazine catch, smooth "drum" style selector and safety switches, and a screw-attached buttstock. A hardwood case is included, along with two boxes of ammo, oilers, cleaning rods, sling, and four extra magazines in a 5-cell canvas magazine pouch.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% plus original parkerized finish, showing edge wear, light scratches and handling marks. The replacement front sight shows a contrasting brown/black patina, with some deformation of the forearm mounting iron causing the forearm to slant downwards at the rear. The wood is also excellent, with mild dents and scuffs, and the accessories are in good order. Mechanically very good. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
