Cased, Factory Engraved, and Gold Inlaid Connecticut Shotgun
Manufacturing Model 21 Custom Grand American Double Barrel Shotgun Two Barrel Set - Serial no. W38351, 12 gauge, 26 inch vent rib bbl., blue/gold finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with dual white bead sights on the matted flat vent rib, standard Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing barrel markings, 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, and interchangeable choke tube system (improved cylinder/light modified installed). The barrels also show beautiful 3 inch wedges of floral scroll work at either breech and have jewelled flats. The blued action displays fabulous 21-6 pattern engraving and additional gold inlays for a total of seven individual game scenes. The game scenes consist of a pointer and a grouse scene on the right, the underside has a second grouse and a setter, the left features another setter and a woodcock, and the trigger guard has a bust of what appears to be the same setter. The scenes are all surrounded by floral scrollwork, and the fences are deeply engraved with oak leaf patterns. Single selective trigger
pattern fleur-de-lis checkered beavertail forend with ebony forend inlay, rotary latch release, gold inlaid “1’, and engraved fittings. The pistol grip
stock is of equal elegance and features an engraved blue grip cap, gold
initial oval marked “BTC”, and a leather wrapped recoil pad. Included with the gun is a leather bound takedown case, six extra choke tubes (two skeet, two light modified, one improved cylinder, and one modified), cleaning tools, and nickel snap caps and oiler. Also included is a second 30 inch vent rib barrel
set with matching engraving, 3 inch chambers with ejectors, and its own beavertail forend with gold inlaid “2”. Barrel measurements for set “2” (R/L): bore diameter measured 9 inches from the breech .731/.731 inches; modified/ light modified chokes installed; minimum wall thickness .030/.029 inches. Barrel and stock measurements for barrel set “1” (R/L): bore diameter measured 9 inches from the breech .733/.732 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.030 inches; 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 2 5/16 inch drop at heel; 14 5/8 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 7 lbs 13 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent retaining 99% original blue and gold finishes showing limited handling evidence. The wood is very fine with a few minor marks, some wear to the recoil pad, and sharp checkering/carving. The extra barrel set is excellent. The case and accessories are excellent.
