Desirable Engraved and Silver Mounted Pair of Brass Breechloading Boxlock
Flintlock Pistols by Perry Attributed to High Sheriff Leche of Cheshire County -A) Perry Flintlock
Pistol - NSN, 54 cal., 5 3/8 inch round bbl., bright/silver finish, walnut stock. These pistols were identified by Richard Littlefield of Littlefield Antiques as made by William Perry of Birmingham c.
1780 based on the “H” date codes on the silver grotesque mask pommel caps. He also identified the engraved crest over “L” on the silver wrist escutcheons as most likely for William Leche who was high sheriff of Cheshire County in 1774. The pistols have multi-stage cannon style barrels, Tower private proofs, “LONDON on the right sides, “PERRY” on the left sides, scroll and martial engraving, and silver wire and pin borders around the oval wrist escutcheons.
CONDITION: Fine with attractively aged patina on the brass and silver, crisp engraving, dark gray
and brown patina on the iron, and mild overall wear. The grip is very good and has mild scratches and
dings and minor edge wear. The frizzen spring is cracked and weak; otherwise, it is mechanically fine.
B) Perry Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 54 cal., 5 3/8 inch round bbl., bright/silver finish, walnut stock. See “A.”
CONDITION: Fine with attractively aged patina on the brass and silver, gray and brown patina on the iron components, crisp engraving, and general mild wear. The grip is very good and has some mild dings and scratches and handling and edge wear. Mechanically fine.

Pair of Engraved and Silver Accented Younge Percussion Pocket Pistols
-A) Younge Pocket Pistol - NSN, 45 cal., 1 3/4 inch round bbl., blue/bright/silver finish,
walnut grips. These boxlock percussion pocket/muff pistols are signed “YOUNGE” on
the left side of the German silver rounded actions and “Sheffield” on the opposite sides and have turn-off barrels, Birmingham proofs, mainly scroll engraving, silver lion mask pommel caps, silver wire and floral inlays on the sides of the checkered grips, and blank silver thumb plates. CONDITION: Good with mostly bright German silver action, aged patinas on the silver, mottled gray and brown patina on the barrel and hammer, slight crack in the frame from contact
with the hammer, and mild overall wear. The refinished grip is very good and has
mostly crisp checkering, a sliver of wire absent on the left, and minor dings and
scratches. Mechanically fine.
B) Younge Pocket Pistol - NSN, 45 cal., 1 3/4 inch round bbl.,
blue/bright/silver finish, walnut grips. See “A.”
CONDITION: Good with mostly bright German silver
action, aged patinas on the silver, mostly smooth gray
and brown patina on the balance, battered barrel, and
mild overall wear. The refinished grip is very goodand
has mostly crisp checkering, some small slivers of wire
lose, absent, or replaced and minor dings and scratches.
Mechanically fine.
