Collector Spotlight Auction Shines on Smith & Wesson!

Our First Ever Dedicated S&W Auction!

Rock Island Auction Company is excited to dedicate its May 1 online auction entirely to the discipline of Smith & Wesson collecting. The auction’s 300 lots burst with exclusively Smith & Wesson firearms, and feature the collection of Jon M. Maxwell.

Maxwell, a 40-year member of the Smith & Wesson Collector Association, devoted himself to the pursuit of assembling a group of experimental, early production, one-off and rare collectable Smith & Wesson firearms. He was well-connected within the Smith & Wesson organization, even influencing some of their prototypes.

Among the classic designs, like the Model 29 and Model 686, are scarce firearms like a prototype Performance Center Target revolver chambered in .44 Magnum with a seven-inch ported slab side barrel and a rare Wiley Clapp-tested Smith & Wesson Performance Center 4566 pistol prototype in .45 ACP. There are numerous police-marked examples in the auctions, issued to departments stretching from Hong Kong, to Peru to Cleveland, Ohio.

This one-time auction is an immense opportunity for someone who has dabbled in Smith & Wesson collecting to add something special from the numerous models and variations available, so don’t let this Smith & Wesson Collector Spotlight Auction on May 1 pass you by.
