Engraved New Haven Arms Co. Volcanic Carbine
The New Haven Arms Co. Volcanic pistols and carbines manufactured in 1857-1860 are important pieces in the evolution of Winchester firearms. An estimated 1,000 total carbines were produced distributed across three different barrel length configurations. Receiver, upper tang, and buttplate heel are factory engraved with large open scrollwork. Number "2715" is stamped on the left side of the lower tang, lower tang screw, a buttplate screw, an upper tang screw, buttplate, and stock heel under the buttplate.

Lot 2005
Civil War New Haven Arms Company Henry Lever Action Rifle
Many of the Henry rifles were purchased by or for Union troops later in the Civil War, including for use by the 3rd Veteran Volunteers. The serial number of this rifle from 1864 is within the range of others used by the 3rd Regiment U.S. Veteran Volunteers (7000-9000). It falls between rifles 7261 and 7266 listed in the serial number list of 3rd U.S.V.V. rifles on page 75 of "The Historic Henry Rifle" by Wiley Sword. Matching serial numbers are marked on the barrel at the breech, the left side of the lower tang, and the toe of the buttplate. The stock number appears to be different but is obscured (looks like "10??3"). The right side of the replacement stock is hand inscribed "M.G.E."

Lot 4004
Civil War Era New Haven Arms Co. Henry Lever Action Rifle
Only around 14,000 Henrys were manufactured in 1860-1866. Many of these rifles were purchased and used by Union troops during the "War Between the States." Their historical significance as both Civil War rifles and important predecessors to the famous Winchester rifles has made "That damned Yankee rifle that can be loaded on Sunday and fired all week" one of the most valuable and sought after of all American firearms. This Henry was manufactured in 1864 and has matching serial numbers at the breech, left side of the lower tang, and inside the upper tang stock mortise. Buttstock is a modern professionally made replacement. The toe of the replacement buttplate has "965."
