Description:

Civil War Smith carbine manufactured by American Machine Works at Chicopee Falls Massachusetts. Left side of receiver has standard Poultry & Tremble and "AM'N M'CH'N WKS" patent markings. Fixed front sight with adjustable folding rear sight. Brass barrel latch. Repaired two piece walnut stock with steel buttplate. The initials "JSM" are carved in the left stock.
