Description:

Fixed sights, double set triggers, brass furniture on maple half stock with a pewter forend tip and crescent brass buttplate. The stock has major cracks. Hammer may be a replacement. Barrel is marked "W H BROWN DAYTON".

OB - EXCELLENT- all original parts; over 80% original finish; sharp lettering, numerals and design on metal; unmarred wood.

Description:

Brass inverted V front sight that is part of the barrel band and a V notch rear sight. First Norwegian designed longarm. Barrel is marked with the Crown over K for the Kongsberg facility. Lock date indicates manufacturing date of 1847. The ramrod appears to be correct as it protrudes approximately 2 centimeters in front of the muzzle. Brass barrel bands, trigger guard, and buttplate.

Civil War Lorenz rifle. Widely issued to Union infantry during the Civil War, the Lorenz was considered to be one of the best quality imported long arms; some 226,000 were imported by the federal government. Lock plate has moderate to heavy pitting. Barrel markings are obscured by pitting.
