Marked "U.S./ MODEL / 1873" on top of the high arch breechblock, "(eagle)/ U.S./ SPRINGFIELD" on the lock plate in front of the hammer, and "V/ P/ (Eagle Head)/ P" on the barrel. Smooth straight grip stock with brown Rock Island Arsenal sling and brass plate on the comb reading "H/ 58".
