Richards Conversion of the Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver

This is a First Model commercial Colt .44 centerfire Richards Conversion revolver (that has been refurbished in the 20th Century). The revolver has the Richard's modifications: (1) recoil shield with Richard's breech plate, rebounding fire pin, integral rear sight and loading gate, (2) six-notch cylinder, (3) plugged loading rammer hole with plug secured by a screw on the left side of the barrel lug and barrel to accept the Richard's ejector assembly. The top of the barrel is marked: "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-" and the left side of the frame is stamped "COLTS/PATENT". No other markings. The rear of the loading gate is marked "2066". The entire gun has been nickel plated except for the wedge, hammer, trigger and screws which are blue. The serial number "3102" is located on the frame, barrel lug, trigger guard and backstrap. All visible serial numbers match.

ConditionCompletely refinished and the barrel has been lengthened back to the original length of 7-1/2. There are some small scattered areas of finished over minor pitting and much of the finish has taken on a "frosty" appearance. The grips are a bit ill-fitting and remain very good as sanded and reoiled. All markings, except noted above, are clear and readable. The action is fine.
