Colt Dragoon Revolver 44
Manufactured in 1858. Standard round trigger guard. The revolver appears to have the standard barrel and frame markings which are mostly unreadable. It does have the frame screws and recoil shield cut outs to accommodate the stock. A blade front sight has been added on a base soldered to the barrel and a folding leaf rear sight has been added just ahead of the breech. All visible numbers match. Fitted with smooth one piece grips.

Cooper J M & Co Pocket Revolver 31
Marked with the Second Model First Variation address "MANFD BY J.M. COOPER & CO / PITTSBURGH PA / PATD APL 25, 1854 / PATD JAN. 7, 1851 / REISSD JULY 26, 1859" on top of the barrel, only about 100 were made in this variation. Produced between 1864 and 1869 with a total production of 1,500, externally it bears a close resemblance to Colt's Model 1849 Pocket Navy revolver, but equipped for double action firing. Brass pin front sight, 5-round unfluted cylinder with conventional rectangular notches.

Manufactured in 1861. This revolver has the large round trigger guard. The top barrel flat is marked: "--ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW -YORK U.S.AMERICA--", the left side of the frame has the "COLT / PATENT" and there is no visible cylinder scene. The serial number "103358" is stamped on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, cylinder and blackstrap. The partial number "3358" is stamped on the loading lever.

Colt 1860 Army Revolver 44 percussion
Civil War Colt Model 1860 Army revolver manufactured in 1863 with the three screw frame and recoil shield with cut-outs for the detachable shoulder stock. The revolver has a blued barrel, cylinder and backstrap, casehardened loading lever, hammer and frame and brass trigger guard. The grips are smooth one piece varnished walnut with a faint boxed cartouche on each side. The cylinder is roll-engraved with the Texas Navy battle scene. Single letter Ordnance Department sub-inspector's initials on some components, a "GG" behind the wedge screw. The top of the barrel is marked: "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA- -" and "COLTS / PATENT" is stamped on the left side of the frame. "C.E.Y." has been crudely engraved on the butt.

Starr Arms Company 1858 Revolver 44
Six-shot, double action revolver manufactured by the Starr Arms Co., of Yonkers, New York. The one-piece walnut grip has an oiled finish with a faint script inspectors cartouche "ADP" ? On the lower left side. Address is located on the left side of the frame below the cylinder and a patent date is stamped on the opposite side. All numbers match. Single sub-inspector initials are stamped on most components. There is a slide on the rear of the trigger. The hammer is carried to the cocked position, the cylinder is turned and the chamber is ready to fire when the front trigger is released so the rear trigger can be reached for firing.

Colt Richards Conversion Revolver 44 CF
This is a First Model commercial Colt .44 centerfire Richards Conversion revolver (that has been refurbished in the 20th Century). The revolver has the Richard's modifications: (1) recoil shield with Richard's breech plate, rebounding fire pin, integral rear sight and loading gate, (2) six-notch cylinder, (3) plugged loading rammer hole with plug secured by a screw on the left side of the barrel lug and barrel to accept the Richard's ejector assembly. The top of the barrel is marked: "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-" and the left side of the frame is stamped "COLTS/PATENT". No other markings. The rear of the loading gate is marked "2066". The entire gun has been nickel plated except for the wedge, hammer, trigger and screws which are blue. The serial number "3102" is located on the frame, barrel lug, trigger guard and backstrap. All visible serial numbers match.

The revolver has the usual Ordnance sub-inspector, single-initials stamped on the various parts with the boxed "BH" cartouche on the bottom of the left grip. The top of the barrel is marked with the standard Remington address over "NEW MODEL". Blue finish with a casehardened hammer and brass trigger guard. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom barrel flat and on the frame under the left grip panel.

Manufactured in 1873, the '62 Police is regarded by many as one of the most streamlined production arms to leave the Colt factory during the percussion era. Colt manufactured approximately 28,000 of these revolvers between 1861 and 1873. Cone front sight on barrel with one line block letter "U.S. U.C." address, the frame is stamped "COLTS/ PATENT" on the left side, and the trigger guard is marked "36 CAL" on the left shoulder. The cylinder is absent of the usual patent marking. The barrel and cylinder were blue, loading lever, frame and hammer casehardened and the trigger guard and backstrap were silver plated brass. Fitted with smooth varnished one piece grips. All visible serial numbers match.

This First Type 1849 revolver was manufactured in 1863 featuring a fixed brass front sight and hammer notch rear sight. The top barrel flat is marked " ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" with the cylinder roll engraved with the stagecoach scene. The serial number is marked on the frame, cylinder and backstrap with partial numbers on the ejector lever and cylinder, all match Smooth walnut grips. Complete in a red velvet lined box with fitted compartments for an unopened tin of 100 Hicks' Percussion caps, two round metal shots, "Hawksley" powder flask and key. The bullet mold is missing.

Well used but taken care of, all markings except for serial number on trigger guard and frame, "PATENT" marking and part of the barrel top address are unreadable. There are a number of items on the internet pertaining to a Lt. Col. G.D. Ramsey. A little research may prove to be interesting.

Unknown 1878 Zigzag Revolver 44 percussion
This revolver appears to be a period reproduction of the English Hartford Dragoon that has been subsequently renumbered and modified. The barrel lug, sides of the loading lever, frame, trigger guard bow and grip frame are scroll engraved. The top of the barrel is marked " ---ADRESS COL COLT LONDON---", the left side of the frame is marked "PATENT ARMS" in a banner. The "crown / V" and "crown / GP" proof mark is on the left side of the barrel lug ahead of the wedge and alternating on the cylinder breech shoulders. The cylinder is roll engraved with the Ranger Indian scene. The trigger guard and back strap are brass and the grips are one piece smooth walnut.

The top barrel flat has been improperly restamped " COL SAML COLT / HARTFORD CT.", the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS / PATENT" and the serial number "433" appears on the rear of the barrel lug, frame, backstrap and wedge. The cylinder pin is marked "8387". The front sight is a brass bead and there is no provision for a loading lever. The grips are one piece smooth varnished walnut.

The left side trigger guard shoulder is marked "44" and the cylinder is roll engraved with the federals battling Indians scene and restamped "180" and "COLTS PATENT". Brass blade front sight and two leaf folding rear sight . Complete serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap. Partial number "180" is marked on the wedge, cylinder and loading lever. Fitted with smooth one piece grips.
