Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver

Civil War Colt Model 1860 Army revolver manufactured in 1863 with the three screw frame and recoil shield with cut-outs for the detachable shoulder stock. The revolver has a blued barrel, cylinder and backstrap, casehardened loading lever, hammer and frame and brass trigger guard. The grips are smooth one piece varnished walnut with a faint boxed cartouche on each side. The cylinder is roll-engraved with the Texas Navy battle scene. Single letter Ordnance Department sub-inspector's initials on some components, a "GG" behind the wedge screw. The top of the barrel is marked: "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA- -" and "COLTS / PATENT" is stamped on the left side of the frame. "C.E.Y." has been crudely engraved on the butt.

ConditionRefinished, restamped (see above). All metal surfaces have an artificial smooth grayish/brown patina with some minor dings around the wedge and a strong cylinder scene. The trigger guard has an aged patina. The grips have been revarnished, the cartouche on the left side is restamped and the right side only the box is visible. There are numerous minor nicks along the edges and overall minor handling marks. Markings are clear. The action is tight.
