OD - VERY GOOD- all original parts; none to 30% original finish; original metal surfaces smooth with all edges sharp; clear lettering, numerals and design on metal; wood slightly scratched or bruised.

NPRF - NON-PROFESSIONALLY REFINISHED/COLD BLUE, ETC.

Manufactured in 1847, the first year of production. The top barrel flat has been improperly restamped " COL SAML COLT / HARTFORD CT.", the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS / PATENT" and the serial number "433" appears on the rear of the barrel lug, frame, backstrap and wedge. The cylinder pin is marked "8387". The front sight is a brass bead and there is no provision for a loading lever. The grips are one piece smooth varnished walnut.

Restamped, refinished (see above). All metal parts have been heavily cleaned artificially aged and the cylinder has been heavily buffed making it very smooth without any traces of a roll engraved scene. The frame, barrel and hammer have pitting, under the cold blue. The brass has been cleaned at some time and is beginning to age again. The grips are good with much of the varnish remaining and scattered minor dings and dents. The action is fine.
