This modified Model 1866 was manufactured in 1896. The barrel has been shortened, several screws are replacements, and there are notch marks on the underside of the receiver. The stock and forearm are plain walnut with "NEW MEAD/ IDAHO" marked on the left side of stock. The curved buttplate has about 80% blue finish.
