Description:

1) This great detailed Indian Chief was done by an Austrian who probably never saw a real Indian in person except for photographs or newspaper clippings. Kaube romanticized his subjects as making them better looking or dressed more elaborate than the subjects were actually realized. This bronze shows a fully dressed in Chief's attire sitting on his Indian Horse. The chief looks like he is heading for a formal parade of his royalty to his Indian subjects. The dimensions are 18 x 24", weight: 60 lbs. Very good condition with minor vintage imperfections. This same subject is documented & listed in the Bergmann book of bronzes, vol 2. Page 290-291. Bergmann made a note in his description of this mounted Indian Chief that the horse has been shod and described this as Indian horses who were never shod in that era. Austrian 19/20th century. 2) We have from this great Florida estate this great Indian art by a cowboy hall of fame artist Paul E. Bryant (Azle, TX 20th century). The title of this bronze sculpture is labeled Winter Winds. The Indian is shown with a weathered look as the cold winds are aging his face quite rapidly. The Indian is dressed in native American Western Indian attire of buffalo robe fashioned around his body. The sculpture is signed on the bottom base Paul E. Bryant 8/20/82. The dimensions are 7 X 15", weight 10 lbs. Very good condition. The statue rests on an American oval wood plinth. Great depiction of an Indian in the worst of weather.
