Description:

Manufactured in circa 1869, with browned damascus barrels each engraved with a band of stylized running foliage at the breech end and with Whitworth patent rifling. Slightly raised flat rib with bead front sight, rear express sight of one standing and four folding leaves each with platinum inlaid center line and graduated to “300” yards, signed “PATENT”, “WESTLEY RICHARDS”, “170 NEW BOND ST. LONDON” and “WHITWORTH PATENT”, and with scroll engraved doll’s head extension. Action marked “WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT 1731” on the face and “WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT” on the top lever. Bar-in-wood locks each signed “WESTLEY RICHARDS” and with sliding safety catch in front of the hammer. Iron furniture comprising trigger plate, trigger guard, pistol grip cap and butt plate. Border and scroll engraved. 14 1/4 inch pistol grip stock with checkered grip and forearm with “crab” joint, the forearm with key fastener and dark horn tip. The underside of the butt with blank silver oval initial escutcheon and sling eye, the corresponding sling eye mounted beneath the barrels. Birmingham black powder proof marks. Weight 10 lbs. 13 oz.
