Originally built as a double flintlock shotgun in circa 1800, this gun has subsequently been converted to percussion. With browned damascus barrels with concave rib fitted with bead front sight and signed “JOSEPH MANTON. DAVIES STREET. BERKELEY SQUARE. LONDON”. Patent breeches each with platinum plug and engraved with stylized foliage on the rib section. Scroll engraved grooved standing breech and bar locks each signed “JOSEPH MANTON” and engraved with a musical trophy involving a Britannia shield on the tail and a spray of foliage and a serpent on the bar. Furniture including blued trigger guard and trigger plate with pineapple finial. Figured walnut half length stock with checkered grip, the wrist with blank silver oval initial escutcheon.
