Description:

Bearing the mark of "ARNOULD/NAMUR", a Belgian cutler active in the 19th century also known for making veterinary/medical multi-tools, on the left side of the blade, this knife measures 10 1/2 inches when closed, the edge of the blade nesting into a fixed spine and the grip assembly, and the spine of the blade nearly flush against the handguard, with the tip partially exposed. A thumb lever on the left side of the guard holds the blade closed against spring tension, and when depressed the blade snaps out and engages a lock-back retention mechanism, for a blade length of 9 1/4 inches and an overall length of 19 3/4 inches. The steel guard and latch have fine spiral decoration on the edges, which continues onto the grips, with panels of dark horn, silver and pearl.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with some light spotting and areas of pitting on the steel, a drag line from contact with the latch on the left side of the blade, and mild handling marks overall. Some glued repairs are visible on the grip panels, especially the pearl sections, with a small chip absent from the left horn panel. The retention mechanisms are in good order, and the spring retains good tension.
