Pair of Colt Third Model "Thuer" Derringers with Extremely Rare Factory Picture Box

A) Colt Third Model "Thuer" Derringer

These derringers were introduced in 1870, with this example being early production with the high profile hammer. The top of the barrel has a rounded blade front sight and "COLT" in large italic letters. The matching serial number is marked on the left of the grip frame, bottom of the barrel, and inside both grip panels in ink. Includes an extremely rare original Colt factory box that is fitted for two Third Model Derringers.

ConditionExtremely fine, retains 95% of the original nickel finish with light wear/flaking, most noticeably at the top of the back strap and high spots of the frame showing an attractively aged brass. The grips are fine with a minor chip absent from the bottom of the left panel and some minor handling marks. The box is very fine with some mild handling/storage wear.
