Blued Damascus steel barrels with a single bead sight on the smooth solid rib, 2 1/2 inch chambers with extractor, and chokes measured .033/.030 inches. The casehardened rebounding hammer action is unadorned aside from the factory marking on either lock. Lightly figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with ebony tip inlay and round knob pistol grip stock with blued steel buttplate. The included factory letter confirms the current grade 6, gauge, barrel length, and finish when it was shipped on November 8th, 1881 to Hibbard, Spencer & Company of Chicago, Illinois as a single gun shipment. All matching visible serial numbers. Stock measurements: 2 3/8 inch drop at comb; 3 3/4 inch drop at heel; 14 1/4 inch length of pull. Weight: 10 lbs. 10 oz.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 80% original blue/brown finish on the attractive Damascus twist barrels with all of the pattern visible. The casehardened components retain 30% of the original case colors with smooth cloudy brown and gray patinas on the balance. Sharp markings and edges in the metal overall. The wood is also fine with numerous scattered scratches and dents. The firing pin tips are absent, otherwise mechanically excellent.
