Silver Plated Game Scene Engraved Moore's Patent Fire Arms Co. First Model Derringer

Around 6,000 of these small pocket pistols were manufactured by Moore's Patent Fire Arms Co. and the National Arms Co. in Brooklyn. They were first manufactured by Moore in 1860-1865 and then by the National Arms Co. in 1865-1870. Colt purchased the rights to the design and manufactured around an additional 6,500 in 1870-1890. This example from Moore is particularly rare in that in addition to the usual scroll and arrow patterns, it has a scene of a woodcock flying in a pastoral scene on the left. t has a silver blade front sight, hammer slot rear sight, "MOORE'S PATENT F.A. Co. BROOKLYN N.Y." on top of the barrel, "D. MOORE'S PAT. FEB. 24 1863" and the serial number on the bottom of the barrel, "39 W" on the back of the barrel, arrows and stars engraved on the sides of the barrel, scroll engraving on the barrel and frame, and checkered panels on the grip.

ConditionFine with mostly distinct engraving, 85% plus silver plating remaining, some areas of exposed brass visible on the frame which has a wider than usual gap on the right side, numerous dents, scrapes, and dings; and general mild wear. Mechanically fine.
