Manufactured in 1899. The later production replacement barrel is marked with the model and caliber on the left and the Colt address on the right. Fitted with blade front and frame notch rear sights. Matching serial numbers on the frame, triggerguard, and backstrap with assembly number "745" on the inside of the loading gate. The backstrap bears the inscription "To Larry Wilson/from his friend/Monte Hale". The left grip is scrimshawed by a cowboy hat over Hale's "MH" monogram. Monte Hale, was famous for his work as a B Western movie actor from the late 40s through the mid 60s. During his time he would work with famous cowboy actors like Roy Rodgers and Gene Autry. His Western work would transcend film and into a series of comics, which would outlast his work in films as the Western genre began to wind down. For his work and dedication to the entertainment industry, in 2004 Hale was awarded with a star on the world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. Along with his work in film, he would help establish what is now the Autry Museum of the American West.

Fine, retaining 95% original blue finish on the postwar replacement barrel and ejector rod housing with some light surface oxidation around the front sight and on top of the ejector rod housing. The frame retains 90% of the refinished case colors with most of the Rampant Colt logo washed out and about half of the varnish remaining. Grip is excellent with an attractive aged coloration. Mechanically excellent.
