Description:

Designed by Dr. Mahlon J. Gallager, a Southerner by birth, and manufactured under license by Richardson & Overman in Philadelphia where Gallager had a dental practice. Reportedly 17,728 Gallager carbines were manufactured in three different variations. Faint remnants of a boxed script inspection cartouche stamped on the stock wrist.

Rating Definition:

Good, with smooth gray and brown patina on the barrel and components, with a silvery gray patina on the frame. The re-oiled stock is very good, with scattered light scratches and handling marks, a 2 1/2 inch crack on the left ahead of the buttplate, and defined edges. Mechanically excellent.
