Description:

Manufactured from 1817 to 1820."S. NORTH/U [eagle shield motif]S/MIDLN CON." marked at the center of the lock, "P/US" marked at the left breech of the barrel, and "S.CAROLINA" on top of the breech. Features a brass blade front sight on the barrel band, brass flash pan without a fence, and a faint oval inspection cartouche stamped on the left stock flat.

Rating Definition:

Good, with traces of original brown finish, mostly dark brown patina, mild oxidation and pitting, a replacement hammer, age darkened patina on the brass flash pan, and mostly defined markings in the iron. The stock is good, with numerous scattered chips, dings and scratches, a crack behind the lock, a crack on the left ahead of the rear lock screw, and a faint but visible cartouche. The crude replacement hammer does not remain in the cocked position, needs mechanical work.
