Documented and Inscribed Winchester Model 1907 Semi-Automatic Rifle Owned by Captain E.J. "Jay" Banks of the Texas Rangers

Manufactured c. 1957, this Winchester semi-automatic rifle was owned by famed Texas Ranger Captain E.J. "Jay" Banks. An included copy of a Texas Department of Public Safety Letter signed by Banks lists this rifle, along with a Winchester Model 71 that is also in this auction, as carried and used extensively by him during his time as a Texas Ranger. The left of the receiver is engraved "State of Texas/TEXAS RANGERS/Company B" for the company Banks was in and eventually commanded. A rifle such as this would have given Banks a significant increase in firepower over his typically carried sidearms. The barrel and receiver are marked with the standard Winchester factory oval proofs. The left of the barrel has the standard address/proof steel, trademark, model, and caliber markings. The serial number is on the left of the receiver twice. It is fitted with a blade front sight, elevation adjustable notch rear sight, and sling swivels on the barrel band and bottom of the stock. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a checkered steel buttplate. Includes a tooled leather sling.

ConditionExceptionally fine, retains 97% plus of the original blue finish with some scattered light handling marks, some minor tool marks on the forearm retention collar, and the inscription crisp. The wood is very fine with a few scattered light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Don't miss this rare opportunity to add a piece of Texas Rangers history to your collection!
