F. Bauernfeind is listed in "Der Neue Stockel" as active in Heidelberg c. 1850. The rifled, etched fine Damascus barrels have dovetailed blade front sights. The breech plugs have scroll engraving and dual gold bands. The standing breeches have screw adjustable notch rear sights, fine scroll engraving, and gold inlaid accents. Coordinating engraving and gold inlays extend to the locks and furniture which also include gold inlaid martial patterns. The back action locks are gold inlaid with "F. BAUERNFEIND" (A) and "IN HEIDELBERG" (B) at the edge in front of the hammers. The trigger guards are spurred and enclose adjustable single set triggers. The horn pommels have gold inlaid "crown/GWR" monograms on the casehardened caps. The well-figured stocks also feature relief carved scroll patterns at the forend tips and checkered panels to the butts with shaped borders.

Fine with a smooth gray and crisp Damascus patterns along the barrel, 50% original case colors, a faint crack in the hammer, bright gold inlays, and crisp engraving throughout. The stock is also fine and has crisp carving and engraving, a faint crack in the horn pommel, and mild scratches. Mechanically excellent.
