Description:

This late 18th century or early 19th century pistol has four barrels at different angles creating a spread of four shots when the pistol is fired. The barrels have false rifling at the muzzles. The top of the action at the breech has fleur-de-lis stamps, and the underside has London style proof marks. The right side of the frame has "FORTH/YORK" in an oval surrounded by martial engraving. The sliding safety also locks the pan closed. A belt hook is fitted on the right. The grip is finely checkered. These "duck's foot" pistols were useful in dissuading a mob or mutineers. A single pull of the trigger could allow one man to wound or kill multiple attackers in an instant. The consignor's note stated this pistol was from the Elmer Keith Estate Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good with mainly dark brown patina overall, distinct engraving, and mild overall wear. The grip is fine and has distinct checkering with mild handling wear and some minor dings and storage marks. Mechanically fine.
