Cutaway rifles such as these would have been used by the U.S. Army for basic training to explain the inner workings of the rifle. Sections of the receiver, bolt, chamber and stock were cut away to expose the inner workings. Blade and tangent sights, "SA/7-15" marked barrel, correct Mark I magazine cut-off and trigger sear for use with a Pedersen device. The serial number "1157xx5" is absent two digits where there is a cutaway section. Includes a 16 inch "1906" dated Springfield M1905 bayonet with wood grip panels with "1910" dated Rock Island Arsenal leather scabbard.

Very good as upgraded to current configuration, with a mix of arsenal refurbished parkerized and blue finishes, with smooth brown and gray patina on the balance. The stock is very fine, with a few light scratches and defined edges. Mechanically fine. The included bayonet and scabbard are both fine.
