Frank E. Malin was a English gunmaker who apprenticed at Webley & Scott before emigrating to Canada in the 1970s to set up his own business in Melbourne, Ontario. This gun is built with blued steel barrels featuring a single brass bead on the fully engraved concave solid rib which is marked "F. E. Malin, London, Ont." in gold inlaid lettering, wedges of scrollwork at either breech, Birmingham proof marks on the flats with "CANADA" on the left barrel, and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The vibrant casehardened sidelock action displays fine scrollwork with gold inlaid flowers, "F. E. Malin" in gold on either side of the action, and gold inlaid line borders. The underside of the action is marked in gold block letters "THE ROYAL/PRESENTATION" around a gold coronet. The gold and scrollwork continues off of the action and on to the toplever, triggerguard, and both tangs, the lower of which features the serial number in gold. The work was carried out by British Master Engraver Simon Lytton who has signed "S. M. Lytton" to the left of the triggerguard. The gun features bushed firing pins, a set or double triggers with articulated front, and a tang mounted manual safety switch with gold inlaid "SAFE" marking. Exceptionally well-figured, multi-point checkered forend with engraved and gold inlaid fittings and straight grip stock with teardrop carved flats, a blank gold inscription oval, and a checkered bare butt. Included is an oak & leather takedown case with cleaning tools, horn turnscrews, an oiler, and snap caps. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 3/5 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs. 8 oz.

Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue, casehardened, and gold finishes with minimal handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. The case is fine. Mechanically excellent.
