This factory engraved Model 421 was manufactured in 1961 as a "deluxe edition" of the famed Model 418 pattern pistol. There is little English language information on the Model 421, however the very limited run of pistols is described by J.B. Wood in his book "Beretta Automatic Pistols" on page 42; the Model 421 was manufactured in a serial number range outside of that of the Model 418, which explains the late date code and high serial number. The pistol has a beautiful full-coverage floral engraving, with the left slide flat marked "P.BERETTA-CAL.6.35-GARDONE V.T." and the right marked "MADE in ITALY", proof marks and "XVII" date code on the left side of the trigger guard, angled grip serrations, and a contoured grip safety. Included is a velvet-lined form fitted Beretta case.

Excellent overall, retaining 98% plus of the original gold finish with minor handling evidence. Case is very fine. Mechanically excellent. A very fine addition to any Beretta collection!
