Description:

This attractive factory engraved Colt Model 1855 Pocket revolver is a "Model 2" variant manufactured in 1858 with a 3 1/2 inch octagon barrel with a cone front sight and the pointing hand followed by the two-line, two-block patent and address marking and a round cylinder with the cabin and Indian roll-scene. The bottom of the barrel also has a "K" marking. A sight groove and notch rear sight are incorporated into the top strap. The revolver is finished with blue on the barrel, cylinder, and frame; casehardening on the loading lever and hammer, and has an attractive grip. It is engraved with classic factory "Gustave Young" style Germanic scroll engraving with beaded backgrounds. The front of the hammer has five dots, often said to denote the level of work devoted by the shop in engraving.

Rating Definition:

Very good with mostly crisp engraving, 20% original blue finish, mostly dark brown patina throughout, some spots of minor pitting, and general moderate overall wear. The grip is fine and has attractive natural grain and aged patina, slight shrinkage, and minor handling and age related wear. Mechanically fine.
